ToggleCAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) letter is an important document for getting UK student visa. To study in the UK, international students needs to get a Tier-4 (student visa). However, without CAS letter student visa cannot be issued. This letter has a unique number presenting details of the institute that agrees to be the sponsor of the applicant’s Tier-4 study visa.
Every university follows a different procedure. Once the offer is accepted, the university, on behalf of the student, contact the UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) for the CAS number and verifies that the student is accepted by the University/Institute. However, general procedure is as below:
The CAS letter is generally issued on a first-come-first-served basis. Usually, universities will take 10 days to send CAS number after you confirm the details in the statement. If you do not receive your CAS number within 20 days, you are advised to send an email to admission committee or immigration compliance team of university to bring their attention.
A combined CAS number is issued to those students who will be pursuing more than one course together at the same university. Through a combined CAS number, students can apply for single visa which will give permission to stay in the UK till both their courses are complete.
Yes, a CAS letter application can be rejected in case any inconsistencies are found in the information provided by the student.
Usually, the university sends the CAS letter in 2-3 business days after thoroughly verifying the documents provided by the student. However, there is no fixed time duration taken by a university to release it.
Although, CAS is an important document for applying a UK student visa, it does not guarantee a student visa.
A very few applications get refused due to applicant enter incorrect information, fail to clear the pre-CAS interview, or present insufficent funds.
For the UK student visa, CAS is an essential document required for applying the UK student visa.
